Get Outside. Get Hands-On. Learn the Trades.

This internship is for students who want to work with their hands, be outside every day, and learn construction from the ground up. If you’re not afraid to get dirty and want real field experience instead of sitting behind a desk, this role is for you.

This is a 100% field-based internship with very limited desk work. You’ll be part of a high-performing construction team on an active job site in Hampton Roads, learning directly from experienced professionals.

Location
Hampton Roads, VA

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work alongside ACE field teams and report directly to the Project Superintendent. This role is all about learning how construction actually happens — from basic labor skills to understanding how different trades work together on large infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Learn and perform basic labor and trade work as a Skilled Laborer
• Develop hands-on experience across multiple construction disciplines
• Assist with daily field operations and job site activities
• Follow all safety policies and company procedures

Trades You’ll Be Exposed To
• Earthwork
• Concrete
• Mechanical piping
• Mechanical equipment
• Subcontractor work including Electrical, I&C, and HVAC

What We’re Looking For
• Someone who enjoys working outdoors and staying active
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Interest in construction, skilled trades, or field supervision

Why ACE
At ACE, the work you do matters. Every project helps protect clean water, improve public infrastructure, and support the communities where we live and work. From water and wastewater facilities to critical environmental systems, our teams play a direct role in keeping neighborhoods healthy and sustainable.

For over 21 years, ACE has been a Top 200 Environmental Contractor (ENR) by building projects that make a real difference. We believe in building to last — not just structures, but stronger communities and future leaders. As an intern, you won’t just gain experience; you’ll be part of work that has a lasting impact on the environment and the people who depend on it.
