We are currently seeking:

Multiple lifeguards to join our team and, under general supervision of the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager, be responsible for supervision of swimming activities at the Municipal Pool. It is the responsibility of the lifeguard to maintain and order discipline among the patrons by enforcing pool rules and constantly watching the public for its safety while in the aquatic facility. May assist in swim lessons.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Monitoring and applying safety guidelines and proper rescue techniques to patrons in the aquatic facility.
  2. Administering first aid or CPR according to prescribed procedures and notifying emergency medical personnel when necessary.
  3. Assisting with front desk operation through positive public relations.
  4. Performing basic maintenance procedures to assure public safety. Clean blood, urine, and fecal matter from pools, decking, floors, walls, and sinks.
  5. Assisting in the daily operation of the Municipal Pool including but not limited to opening and closing of the facility, assisting guests, providing programming information, and collecting fees.
  6. Attending all regularly scheduled training sessions and audits.
  7. Working in cooperation with the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager.
  8. Must be able to work Monday through Friday, including weekends and holidays. Schedule could include up to 40 hours per week. Scheduled hours will vary from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.
  9. Position is seasonal.
  10. Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Serving as lifeguard and providing for the safety of swimmers.
  • Explaining and enforcing pool rules and regulations.
  • Administering First Aid and CPR to include the use of an AED.
  • Preparing departmental records and reports.
  • Participating in cleaning and maintaining pool facilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other staff, patron, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard or Shallow Water Lifeguard certification required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is required or a valid driver license with a good driving record.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Ability to perform strenuous duties for extended periods of time.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass physical test(s).
