Company: Fylm TV
Role: Movie Reviewer
Payment: Per Movie Review

Job Description

Fylm TV is seeking thoughtful, detail-oriented Movie Reviewers to evaluate films submitted to the Fylm TV Platform. This role is not simply about whether a reviewer likes or dislikes a film. The primary focus is on how each reviewer arrives at their decision, using clear reasoning, consistent scoring, and constructive written feedback.

Movie Reviewers will be responsible for watching assigned films in full and evaluating them based on specific creative and technical categories. Reviewers should be able to assess films fairly, explain their scores, and provide insight into whether each film is a strong fit for the Fylm TV streaming platform.

Key Responsibilities

Reviewers will evaluate each film on a scale of 1–10 in the following categories:

  • Opening Hook – Does the film capture attention early?
  • Story Clarity – Is the story easy to follow and understand?
  • Emotional Engagement – Does the film create an emotional connection with the viewer?
  • Character Interest – Are the characters compelling, memorable, or worth following?
  • Pacing – Does the film move at an effective rhythm without feeling rushed or slow?
  • Overall Watchability – Is the film enjoyable and engaging as a complete viewing experience?
  • Visual Quality – Are the cinematography, lighting, editing, and overall visual presentation effective?
  • Actor Performance – Are the performances believable, engaging, and appropriate for the story?
  • Music / Audio Quality – Are the sound design, dialogue clarity, music, and audio mix effective?
  • Recommendation Value – Would you recommend this film to others?
  • Overall Score – What is the reviewer’s final score for the film?
  • Filmmaker Potential – Would you want to see more work from this filmmaker?

Finally, the reviewer will write 1-3 paragraphs addressing whether the film should be accepted or denied for the Fylm TV streaming platform and clearly explain the reasoning behind that recommendation.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal Movie Reviewer has a strong interest in film, storytelling, and independent creators. They should be able to watch films with an open mind, evaluate both creative and technical elements, and provide fair, respectful, and thoughtful feedback.

Reviewers do not need to judge films based only on personal preference. Instead, they should focus on the quality of execution, audience appeal, storytelling effectiveness, and platform readiness. A strong reviewer can recognize potential in a filmmaker while still being honest about areas where a film may need improvement.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • A genuine interest in film, television, streaming content, or independent filmmaking
  • Strong written communication skills
  • The ability to explain opinions clearly and constructively
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to follow a structured scoring system
  • A fair and open-minded approach to reviewing different genres and styles
  • Reliability in completing assigned reviews by the deadline

Review Expectations

  • Each reviewer is expected to:
  • Watch each assigned film in full
  • Score each category honestly on a 1–10 scale
  • Provide thoughtful reasoning behind the scores
  • Submit a 1–3 paragraph written recommendation
  • Clearly state whether the film should be accepted or denied for the Fylm TV streaming platform
  • Consider both the film’s current quality and the filmmaker’s future potential

Purpose of the Role

Decision Summary Requirement

At the end of each review, the reviewer must answer:

Would you accept or deny this film for the Fylm TV streaming platform?

The answer should be supported by a 1–3 paragraph explanation that discusses the film’s strengths, weaknesses, audience appeal, and overall platform fit.

Compensation

Compensation would be on a completion base of films review and thoroughness, between .25 to $5 per film.
