JOB TITLE: Creative Intern(s) — Graphic Design, Video & Content Creation

ORGANIZATION: GAIN Power

LOCATION: Remote

JOB TYPE: Part-time / Internship SALARY: $20/hour

ABOUT GAIN POWER

GAIN Power is a 22-year-old professional community and marketplace for people working in Democratic politics, elections, and civic advocacy. We connect campaign staff, political consultants, field organizers, data professionals, and advocacy leaders with the jobs, resources, and relationships they need to win.

Our community includes 6,000+ vetted members and reaches 39,000+ democracy professionals through our newsletters and job board. We run the Democracy Directory, a job board with salary transparency, virtual career fairs, RootsCamp, the Powerful IDEA Awards, and a growing suite of training and professional development resources for the field.

We’re based in Cambridge, MA, and currently rebuilding our platform and brand from the ground up.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for one or more creative interns to help us tell GAIN Power’s story. You’ll work directly with our founder, Amy Pritchard, to produce graphics, video, and social content that reaches the people on the front lines of democracy — campaign managers, field directors, organizers, and advocates running races across the country in 2026.

This isn’t busy work. The content you make will be seen by tens of thousands of democracy professionals. You’ll also support the creative needs of our programs and training offerings — helping us produce materials that educate, inspire, and move people to action.

If you care about politics, love making things look good, and want your work to matter — this is the role for you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design graphics, flyers, and digital assets for social media, email, and the web
  • Edit short-form video for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Create visual and video content for GAIN Power’s training programs and professional development offerings
  • Support content creation for our platform launch, career fairs, and events
  • Help shape and maintain a consistent visual identity across all channels
  • Appear on camera for reels or talking-head content (if comfortable — not required)
  • Bring your own creative ideas and execute on them quickly
  • Write brief weekly content summaries for the founder

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proficiency across multiple creative tools — we need someone comfortable in both design and video, whether that’s Canva + CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite + Descript, or a similar combination
  • A portfolio or work samples that show your range across both design and video
  • Strong creative instincts and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-moving environment
  • Interest in civic engagement, democracy, or progressive causes

BONUS POINTS FOR

  • Hands-on experience with CapCut or Descript specifically
  • Motion graphics or animation skills
  • Content created for political campaigns, advocacy orgs, or nonprofits
  • Experience producing educational or training content
  • Comfort on camera for reels or talking-head video
  • A track record growing or managing a social media account

DETAILS

  • Pay: $20/hour
  • Hours: 10–15 hours per week, flexible around your schedule
  • Duration: Spring/Summer 2026, with potential to continue
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Work style: Fully remote with occasional optional in-person meetups in Cambridge, MA

BEYOND THIS ROLE

We want to invest in you — not just your output. Strong candidates we’re unable to hire may be connected with other organizations in our network hiring for creative and communications roles. We run a virtual career fair in June that connects democracy professionals with campaigns, advocacy orgs, and nonprofits hiring now, and we offer training opportunities for people looking to grow in the democracy space. Let us know in your application if you’re interested — we’re happy to help.

TO APPLY

Complete our application form here. Skip the formal cover letter — we want to hear from you directly. We respond to everyone.

GAIN Power is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We strongly encourage applications from people of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and candidates from communities historically underrepresented in politics and tech.
