SUMMARY/SCOPE: The art program at HSU offers professional creative development opportunities for students in the creative environment of the Frost Center learning both soft and technical skills within a collaborative team through gallery/studio work and office/design work.
2 positions available:
– Gallery team assistant
– Art Office Team Day Shift
– Designer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on need and experience, students will have opportunities to assist in any of the following areas:
Gallery: oversees and proctors lab/studio spaces in the building including the mac lab, fabrication lab, digital print lab, or advanced digital editing lab. assists with gallery director in setting up and taking down exhibitions in the Ira Taylor gallery, maintaining gallery storage and tools. helps maintain cleanliness of studio art spaces. Some clerical activities and art office duties are expected.
Art Office: Oversees duties in the art office including clerical work, mail runs, getting supplies, opening/closing the gallery and working with gallery director, Assist with tours if needed. Business Casual Dress is generally expected.
Designer – Oversees the creation of all designed materials for the art department including various department events, exhibitions, documents, marketing and advertising, and website updates. Business Casual Dress is generally expected. Some clerical activities and art office duties are expected.
Hours: depending on need and availability, hours may be assigned within any of the follow days and shifts: M-F 8-12pm, 1-5pm, or 7-11pm. Saturdays 7-11pm.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
All positions: Art Majors Preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some heavy lifting, climbing high ladders in the gallery, and moving of materials inside building, or across campus, may be required from time to time.
Additional work in shop/studio areas with sweeping and clean up may be required.
