SUMMARY/SCOPE:

Performs administrative and office activities for Office of Global Engagement. Assists with a variety of offices tasks to support international student services and the immigration needs for F-1 visa holders and other visa status students at the university. Serves as a contributing member to new projects that will benefit international student services and the required tasks to maintain the Office of Global Engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist and execute various projects assigned by supervisor to fulfill department goals of serving current international students well and advancing HSU’s global initiatives.

Work with and communicate with internal and external groups that interact and work with our office. Relay important information needed to complete projects through e-mails, phone calls, memos, letters, and other communication methods as needed.

Serve international students who come into the office, answer their basic questions, and in general help them get what they need as they study with us at HSU. Guide and direct them as needed to other campus offices who also need to assist them.

Maintain important documentation and files regarding projects and work in the office.

Perform mail room and office inbox duties as well as mail distribution between offices.

Represent HSU’s global engagement efforts at functions as assigned.

Assist with international community newsletter.

Manage and curate content for our Instagram and Facebook page, fostering engagement and growth.

Assist in planning and implementation of international student arrivals and orientation sessions.

Assist Global Engagement and International Student Fellowship in coordinating International Week events.

Other administrative duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Current HSU Student

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit for long periods of time while performing office functions. Occasional light lifting may be required.

Experience with best office organization systems; such as filing systems and record keeping.

Experience with and/or passion for international students, culture and diversity.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook Calendar, and Microsoft Excel.
