How to Change Careers with Confidence | #NewRulesOfWorkPodcast

Most people will have an average of 12 jobs in their lifetime, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and younger workers will change jobs more frequently with an average tenure of 2.8 years. With every new job, and especially bigger career changes, it can be common to feel doubt and anxiety about whether you’re up for the challenge.

On this episode, host Kathryn Minshew chatted with César Ruiz, Regional Vice President at Microsoft, about his career path, which has included jumps into several different industries. César talks candidly about imposter syndrome, both how he manages his own and how he helps his team manage it, too.

What they talked about:
– César’s career changes from law and government work, to finance, to advertising, and finally into his current role at Microsoft
– César’s experience being at 7 World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001
– Ways to work through imposter syndrome
– The importance of mentorship throughout your career, and especially during a career change
