Overview:

This internship is for a project which is about our founder of ULimo, John Snee, and his potential mayoral candidacy for the city of New York.

The American Government & Politics Internship [Project: John Snee NYC Mayoral Candidacy] provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience related to U.S. government, elections, political institutions, public policy, and state and local government. Interns will support research and project activities while gaining exposure to the governmental and political processes involved in a mayoral candidacy.

This internship is designed for students interested in political science, American government, elections, public policy, and public service. Interns will have opportunities to apply concepts from their coursework to a real-world political project while developing research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Research U.S. government, political institutions, elections, and public policy.

Research New York City and New York State government structures and political processes.

Examine the roles of elected officials, government agencies, and political institutions.

Monitor and summarize political and governmental developments relevant to New York City.

Research election processes, voter issues, civic participation, and local political concerns.

Review publicly available government reports, election information, policy documents, and political research.

Assist with preparing research summaries, briefing materials, reports, and other project documents.

Help organize information related to government institutions, elections, public policy, and community concerns.

Support research into relationships between federal, state, and local government.

Collaborate with project leadership and other interns on American government and political research initiatives.

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework or a degree in Political Science or a closely related field.

Interest in American government, elections, political institutions, public policy, and local government.

Strong research, analytical, written communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and summarize findings clearly.

Familiarity with U.S. government institutions, elections, or political processes is a plus.

Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, research databases, or similar tools is a plus.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research and project assignments.

Interest in New York City and New York State government and politics is a plus.
